You're Invited to Historic Route US 41's Rebirth Saturday

If you haven't been to 27th Street lately, Saturday is the day to change that.

In collaboration of the , businesses along 27th Street from Oklahoma Avenue to College Avenue in both Greenfield and Milwaukee will be participating in a "moving forward" event from noon to 6 p.m.

Participating business will be marked by balloons either at their store fronts or near the street. Visitors can stop in at any of those businesses to receive a punch card. At every subsequent stop, the visitor will get a punch on his or her card, signifying an entry into a raffle for the grand prize of an ATV, which will be given away at

There will also be cookouts at some businesses.

"This is one of our first marketing events. It's to bring people to 27th Street to spend the day," said Tara Cavazos, president of the 27th Street Business Association. "It will show them what we have here on the street, (encourage them) to visit the businesses and keep our businesses running.

"You could (find) anything you want on this street: entertainment, car service and purchases, retail, offices, attorneys, accounting. Anything you want."

• Chicken McNuggets Charity / Classic Car Happy Meals at McDonald's
• the Greenfield Fire Department's new ladder truck and vintage modified stock cars will be on display at Braeger Chevrolet
