Armed Robbery Suspect Turns Himself In

According to the Greenfield police report, Carrillo held up the station at gunpoint at approximately 4:15 p.m. May 22, before fleeing with about $960.

Two days after a 22-year-old man robbed a gas station, 3390 W. Loomis Rd., he turned himself in to the Greenfield Police Department.

Mario Carrillo was charged with two felony counts of armed robbery with use of force on Friday.

According to the Greenfield police report, Carrillo allegedly held up the station at gunpoint at approximately 4:15 p.m. May 22, before fleeing with about $960 northbound on 35th Street.

He said something to the effect of, “Sorry, but I’ve got to do this. Give me all the money,” to the cash register attendant before pointing and waving what was described as a big silver gun.

One customer chased Carrillo several blocks before realizing Carrillo might have a gun.

When police responded to the station, one customer said she had recognized the suspect as someone she went to high school with and showed the officer the Carrillo’s Facebook profile. Information from the profile and the store’s surveillance video, combined with Carrillo’s previous criminal history – including a domestic violence arrest in November 2011 – possibly played a role in Carrllo turning himself in.
