Greenfield Man Accused of Impersonating Photojournalist

A 68-year-old Greenfield man with a history of sketchy behavior was arrested Friday by Cedarburg police after being accused of posing as a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel photographer and attempting to take photos of female high school athletes.

Gary A. Medrow was charged with two counts of telephone harassment and two counts of disorderly conduct on Friday and turned himself in.

Medrow, who lives in the 5200 block of South Tuckaway Blvd., is accused of pretending to be a photographer named “Mike Clark” and contacting Cedarburg High School cheerleaders with the intent of taking their photos.

Authorities in as many as four other cities are investigating similar incidents. Last week, Waupun police called the Greenfield police department requesting they make contact with Medrow and ask him about making contact with members of the girls volleyball team, according to the Greenfield incident log.

This is not the first time Medrow has had a run-in with the law. He has been convicted multiple times, and has been impersonating people — reporters, police officers and more — since the late 70s.
