Greenfield's Police and Fire Commission Appoints Interim Chiefs

Both the police and fire department will have interim chiefs in place in June.

The Greenfield Police and Fire Commission now has interim chiefs in place following last week's retirement announcements from and .

Deputy Inspector Brad Wentlandt was appointed as interim police chief once Springob retires, which is expected to be June 30.

Battalion Chief Jon Cohn was appointed as interim fire chief upon the effective date of Spahn's retirement, which is expected to be June 1.

The appointments came at Tuesday evening's Police and Fire Commission meeting.

Wentlandt was one of five finalists for the Fond du Lac police chief opening and was expected to have another interview for that opening later this week.

But in an , he expressed his desire to become the chief in Greenfield, and in an email to Greenfield Patch this morning, Wentlandt said he had notified Fond du Lac that he had withdrawn from the hiring process for that opening.

Cohn is the former chief in Greendale. He came to Greenfield in 2009 when the department reorganized and added three battalion chiefs.
