Man Chucks Can of Turtle Food at Girlfriend's Head, Police Say

A 40-year-old Greenfield man is accused of throwing a can of turtle food at his girlfriend so hard that it split open head during an argument Aug. 9, police say.

According to the criminal complaint, Cruz and his girlfriend, who live together in the 4000 block of South 65th Street, got into an argument over finances when Cruz picked up the can of turtle food, chucked it at his girlfriend and struck her just above and behind the right ear.

The can cause a split that required six stitches.

Fabian told his girlfriend to tell urgent car nurses that a can of chili fell on her head, which she initially did.

Fabian later admitted to throwing the can, but told police he was throwing it at the wall and not his girlfriend.

Back in January, Fabian was served an injunction that kept him from committing acts of threats of domestic abuse against his girlfriend.

If convicted, Fabian faces a maximum of 4 years and 3 months of imprisonment, $11,000 in fines or both.
