Man Voted in Greenfield, Milwaukee in November Election, Police Say

Chad Gigowski, 27, has been charged with three felony counts of election fraud after police say he voted twice in the presidential election last fall.

A 27-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with voter fraud after police say he voted in the November presidential election both in Milwaukee and Greenfield last fall.

Chad Gigowski was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on March 21, with three counts of felony election fraud, one each for voting more than once, registering in more than one place and providing false information to an election official.

If convicted of all three counts, Gigowski faces a maximum of 10 ½ years of imprisonment and $30,000 in fines.

According to court documents, Gigowski signed a Milwaukee Election Day registration form on Nov. 6, using a Milwaukee address in the 2600 block of West Ramsey Avenue. He then voted at Garland School, 1420 West Goldcrest Ave.

Gigowski also signed a Greenfield Election Day registration form at the Community Center, 7325 W. Forest Home Ave., and cast a vote there. There he used an address in the 3200 block of West Kimberly Avenue to register.

When contacted by Greenfield police, according to the criminal complaint, Gigowski said he did fill out voter registration forms in both cities. He told police the Milwaukee address was where he currently lived with his mother and that he formerly lived in Greenfield.

He told police he first went to Milwaukee to vote, but the poll workers turned him away because he didn’t have proof of residency. He said he then went to Whitnall High School, another Greenfield polling location, and registered to vote there but before he was able to cast his ballot, he was told he was at the wrong polling place.

A friend who was with Gigowski told police he was almost certain he saw Gigowski vote at the Community Center before the two of them went to Whitnall so the friend could vote. After the trip to Whitnall, the friend dropped Gigowski off back at his home in Milwaukee.

Gigowski is due back in court April 23.
