Police Blotter: Jim Smrz Park Hit With Graffiti Again

It's the third time in about a month the tiny Greenfield park has been defaced.

For at least the third time in nearly a month, a small, quaint park tucked back in a Greenfield subdivision was tagged with graffiti.

According to Greenfield police, a Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department employee reported pink graffiti written on the playground equipment at , 6130 S. 40th Street, at 1 p.m. June 20.

The park twice in late May as well.

That and the following incidents were logged by between June 18-24:

  • A woman reported her tires were slashed in a parking lot in the 10100 block of West Cold Spring Road at 7:10 a.m. June 18.
  • A resident in the 3200 block of West Allerton Avenue told police her neighbor poured oil on her rose bushes, causing them to die June 18.
  • A resident in the 5200 block of West Allerton Avenue reported her garden decorations were stolen June 18.
  • A customer at McDonald’s was warned he’d be cited for trespassing if he returned to the restaurant, 5040 S. 76th Street, after police received a call stating the customer was yelling and swearing at staff at 6 p.m. June 18.
  • A woman reported her car radio was stolen from her unlocked vehicle between 7 p.m. June 18 and 4:45 p.m. June 19, in the 4100 block of West Hillcrest Drive.
  • Police found the street sign for the intersection of 69t Street and West Armour Avenue laying on the sidewalk, and the sign for 69th and Van Norman to be missing after receiving a call at 8:15 a.m. June 21. The recovered sign was taken to the police station and tested for fingerprints.
  • A 34-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged possession of marijuana after a traffic stop in the 4500 block of West Forest Home Avenue at 5:15 p.m. June 22.
  • A resident reported someone damaged and took apart his air conditioner units in the 3400 block of West Alvina Avenue between June 21-23. He told police the subject tried to cut the copper pipe of two new air conditioners but was unsuccessful.
  • A man reported his handicap placard was stolen out of his vehicle while parked at Arby’s, 4280 S. 76th Street, June 20.
  • A woman reported her car was broken into and a small black purse containing two iPhones was taken in the 4200 block of South 76th Street. She said two suspect smashed her window, grabbed the purse and were last seen running toward Walgreens.
