Police Continue to Search for Armed Robbery Suspects

Three black males, two armed with guns, held up the Villager Food Mart on Dec. 10, according to police.

Greenfield police continue to look for suspects in an armed robbery that occurred in the city Dec. 10.

According to the Greenfield Police Department report, three black males held up Villager Food Mart, 6845 W. Layton Ave., and made off with an unspecified amount of cash and more than $150 in cigarettes.

An employee told police that shortly before 8:30 p.m., two of the three men had guns, one a long gun of some type and the other a handgun, when they entered the store together and ordered to put his hands up. The employee handed the suspects money from the cash register. After he closed the register, one of the suspects came behind the counter and ordered him to open the register again, and the suspects took more money.

The suspect behind the counter also sprayed the man in the face with some unknown substance, the employee told police. The suspect behind the counter also removed the employee’s wallet from the back pocket of his pants and took an unspecified amount of cash from it.

The same suspect who took the employee’s money from his wallet also ordered the employee to put two cartons of Newport cigarettes in a bag that the suspect left with.

Police said one suspect, according to surveillance video of the incident, is a black male, who at the time of the robbery was wearing gray pants with a dark stripe down each leg, tan colored shoes, a blue long-sleeve windbreaker or shirt with two white stripes down each sleeve and a dark colored ski mask with the eyes and mouth cut out. He was armed with a long gun with a scope.

Another suspect, described as a black male in his 20s, was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, dark colored shoes and a white t-shirt. He was armed with a handgun, most likely a revolver.

The third suspect was also a black male, though likely in his late teens, according to police. He was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, dark gloves, blue jeans and shoes that appeared to have three stripes on them. He was armed with pepper spray or some small spray bottle.
