Two Injured in House Fire

The homeowner was treated for difficulty breathing and later released, and the spouse suffered second degree burns to the face and chest.

Two Greenfield homeowners suffered injuries when a stove fire spread to an attic Saturday.

The homeowner was treated for difficulty breathing and later released, and the spouse was transported to St Mary's burn center for second degree burns to the face and chest.

According to Battalion Chief Jeff Hohensee, the Greenfield Fire Department responded to a stove fire in the 5000 block of South 65th Street. A neighbor reported flames coming from the roof.

The fire likely started on the stove while one of the two victimes was cooking and extended first into the hood above the stove and then into the attic space above.

Hohensee estimated the damage to the house and its contents at $7,500.
