VIDEO: Greenfield House Fire Contained by Fire Department, DPW

The house was vacant and the site of a fire just three days ago. Both incidents are being treated as arson.

In an effort to this morning without putting any firefighters in harm's way, the Greenfield Fire Department called in the city's Division of Public Works for a collaborative effort.

The DPW used a large piece of machinery to knock down the building as the fire department put out the smoldering rubble.

The building had been the site of a suspected arson over the weekend, making the interior of the structure unsafe to enter unnecessarily.

Interim Fire Chief Jon Cohn said the two departments had never practiced this procedure, but good communication and coordination made it the safest course of action.
