Do You Think We Can Fill This Boot?

The Greenfield Fire Department begins its Fill the Boot campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Greenfield Patch will be there to help.

It's kind of depressing when the words "slight chance of rain" actually sound good to me, infinitely better thanΒ "expect rain throughout" or "thunderstorms approaching."

Tomorrow, there is just a "slight chance of rain" in the morning, and assuming that's all it is - a chance - that's good news for the Greenfield Fire Department and great news for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.Β

Greenfield firefighters will be hitting the corners of Layton Avenue and 76th Street to benefit the MDA. It's the third attempt to hold the event (), and the firefighters are trying to top the $30,000 they raised a year ago.

And Greenfield Patch will be there, asking you to show your support for this great cause. I'll be out on the streets with the firefighters from around 10 a.m. to noon Friday, collecting donations for the MDA.

And I want you to show the Greenfield Fire Department and the MDA that Greenfield Patch users know a great cause when they see one. The first two people to bring me a $50 bill will receive a $10 Starbucks gift card on the spot.

And for ANYONE - resident, business owner, etc. - who brings me $100, you'll get your picture taken for inclusion in a photo gallery to run on Greenfield Patch that afternoon with your name (or business's name) and a mention of your generosity included in the photo caption!

(For those of you who plan to donate those amounts for the reasons above, please park your car in one of the nearby parking lots, get out and flag me down from the sidewalk. I'll be wearing a green "Patch" t-shirt. DO NOT attempt to make these donations to me while in your car on the street).

Whatever you can provide can help make a difference, so drive, bike or walk over to Greenfield's busiest intersection, support the Greenfield Fire Department and MDA and help Fill the Boot!
