Meetings Preview: Whitnall's Preliminary Budget, Safe Routes To School, and More

The Whintall School Board will meet tonight, while the city's Board of Public Works and Finance and Human Resources Committee meet later this week.

The Whitnall School Board will get its first look at the 2011-12 preliminary budget during a presentation at Monday’s meeting a 6:30 p.m. in the district’s .

The board members are also expected to discuss and could take action on the , among other business.

In city government, the Board of Public Works will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Common Council chambers of for a presentation by the Safe Routes To School committee.

The committee is expected to request that the board begin pursuing grants for improvements to or the .

In addition, the board will discuss amending a municipal code that requires residents to pay a $50 permit fee for driveway approaches. Residents on South Tuckaway Drive from South 27th Street to South 31st Street , where the city has been repairing and replacing culverts and improving drainage in preparation of a pavement replacement project, believe they should not have to pay the fee when the city is doing the driveway work in conjunction with a road project.

At Wednesday’s Finance and Human Resources Committee meeting, also in the council chambers of City Hall, the 2012 budget and consolidation are again among the agenda items.
