POLL: Which Greenfield Roads are in Most Need of Repair?

The city is considering tackling several projects, but how would you prioritize them?

The has not finalized any plans to improve city roads in 2012, but it has identified trouble areas that could become priorities in the near future.

At November's meeting, the Board of Public Works took initial steps for the city to tackle five large storm sewer and street improvement projects in 2012 and 2013.

The projects, and the corresponding estimated price tags, are:

  • South 67th Street and West Holmes Avenue ($905,000)
  • South 39th Street, West 40th Street, South 41st Street at West Howard Avenue and West Plainfield Avenue, west of West Loomis Road ($1,455,000)
  • South 99th Street & West Norwich Avenue and South 109th Street & West Pallottine Drive ($1,885,000)
  • South 122nd Street and West Carpenter Avenue ($1,320,000)
  • South 33rd Street and West Lynndale Avenue, and the area of South 52nd Street and West Midland Drive ($3,125,000)

Public informational meetings for these projects will be scheduled over the next nine months, and public hearings will be scheduled for the April 2012 and October 2012 Board of Public Works meetings, allowing for final resolutions to be approved by the Common Council, should it choose to approve them, by November 2012. Preliminary resolutions and preliminary special assessments could be approved by the Common Council this month.
