Report: Carpenter, Other Democrats Make Progress on Return

But the 14 Democratic Senators remain in Illinois for a 13th day.

News outlets across the state have reported that the 14 Democratic senators who fled the state Feb. 17 to prevent the passage of Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill have made progress in regards to returning to Madison.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Janesville Gazette, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald met with two of the senators Monday to discuss their return.

, one of two state senators that represent Greenfield, is one of the 14 Democratic senators that are now in their 13th day in Illinois.

Carpenter, unlike some of his colleagues, Democrats and Republicans alike, did not issue a statement following Walker's budget proposal address Tuesday.

At a press conference at State Fair Park in West Allis on Wednesday, Walker said he could be forced to impose layoffs if the senators don't return soon.
