Whitnall Girls Basketball Team Makes it Three Straight

The Falcons won a nonconference game Wednesday to improve to 5-2.

The will be looking for its first four-game winning streak in nearly three seasons when it visits St. Francis at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Falcons picked up their third straight win Wednesday, a 55-35 road contest at Milwaukee Pulaski. The victory improved Whitnall's record to 5-2 overall.

"With three wins in a row, I feel we are playing consistent basketball, doing the things we do best," Whitnall coach Keith Larson said. "Different players are contributing in areas that don't show up in the box score."

The last time the Falcons won four straight games was during a seven-game winning streak in February 2009.

On Wednesday, Ashley Markowiak led the Falcons with 17 points, including 12 in the first half as Whitnall built a 32-16 lead. Rachel Shulta added 12 and Elana Busalacchi had 11.

"I was pleased with our bench play from Gabby Weis and Lizzy Menden," Larson said. "Both gave us steady play and Lizzy handled the ball well against probably the quickest defender we'll see this season."
