Patch Whiz Kids of the Week: Matt Jungers, Jack Lennertz

  • Whiz Kids' Names: Matt Jungers and Jack Lennertz
  • Whiz Kids' School: Greendale High School, but members of the Greenfield/Greendale co-op swim team
  • Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: The two swimmers won multiple events at the Woodland Conference Meet on Saturday and led the PantherHawks to the league title and a clean sweep of conference competitions.
  • Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: Jungers set a a conference and pool record in the 200-yard individual medley in 1 minute, 57.72 seconds and later won the 100 backstroke in 54.08 seconds, a pool record. Lennertz set conference and pool records in the 50 freestyle in 21.97 and then won the 100 butterfly in 51.91. The pair also joined with Ross Rybakowicz and Shaun Fleischhacker to win the 200 medley relay in 1:38.97, another conference and pool record. Both swimmers will be staking their claims at berths in the state meet when they swim in the WIAA Sectional Meet, held at Greenfield at noon Saturday.
