Hawks, Falcons Have Work to do in Week 2

Both Greenfield and Whitnall suffered lopsided losses in their season openers Aug. 23.

Both local football teams have a lot of work to do in the second week of the season after Greenfield and Whitnall lost by a combined score of 98-7 in last Friday’s season openers.

Greenfield, which plays against Pius (1-0) at Wisconsin Lutheran College at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Aug. 29, dropped its opener, 49-7, to Germantown on Aug. 23.

The Hustlin’ Hawks scored their only touchdown with 2 minutes, 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter; the Warhawks, on the other hand, returned the game’s opening kickoff 95 yards for a score.

Different team, same result

Things weren’t much better for the Falcons, who played in Slinger’s first game at that high school’s new football field and lost, 49-0.

Whitnall totaled only about 180 offensive yards, 170 of which came through the air.

Whitnall will look for its first win when it hosts New Berlin Eisenhower (0-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30.
