High School Sports Preview: Falcons Have Another First-Place Showdown

League-leading Whitnall takes on South Milwaukee.

With the Woodland Conference boys basketball season winding down, all eyes will be on the Whitnall Falcons when they host South Milwaukee at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Falcons (12-6 overall) are conference co-leaders with New Berlin Eisenhower with 10-3 league marks, one game ahead of third-place South Milwaukee (11-6, 9-4).

The Rockets are led by the three-headed scoring attack of Isaiah Rodriguez (16.1 points per game), Austin Stueck (13.8) and Defrim Ramushevski (11.9). Stephen Pelkofer leads the Falcons with 16.1 points per game.

The Hustlin’ Hawks will try to make it five wins in seven tries when they visit Wauwatosa West at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Hawks (7-10, 4-9) lost to the Trojans (4-12, 2-11), 43-34, Jan. 21.

Whitnall girls basketball

The Falcons (9-7, 7-6) are vying for their 10th win and fourth in a row when they visit South Milwaukee at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

South Milwaukee (10-6, 8-5) edged Whitnall, 53-50, Dec. 17.

Greenfield boys basketball

The Hustlin’ Hawks (4-14, 3-10) can play the role of spoiler when they host Wauwatosa West (9-8, 8-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Fourth-place Tosa West has an outside chance to win the conference title; the Trojans are two games back with four games remaining.
