Not a Good Night for Whitnall, Greenfield Football Teams

Both teams suffered losses on Friday, hurting the Falcons' chances at winning the league title and the Hawks' chances at earning a playoff berth.

The Whitnall and Greenfield football teams came into Friday night with .

Neither of them were able to accomplish them.

The Whitnall Falcons (4-2, 3-1), in search of their first conference title since 2000, were unable to secure at least a share of the crown when they lost at Brown Deer, 34-13.

With one Woodland East Division game remaining, the Falcons are now tied for first with Brown Deer and South Milwaukee.

Greenfield, meanwhile, in need of two wins in its final three games in order to qualify for the WIAA postseason, suffered a 14-7 loss to South Milwaukee on Friday.

That leaves the Hawks (2-4, 2-2) desperate for victories against both Brown Deer next Friday and Wauwatosa West on Oct. 12.

I went to the football game on friday between Greenfield and South Milwaukee. I have lived in Greenfield a long time, and have friends who live in South Milwaukee who had kids playing for the rockets. I just have one question? Is this the way the hawks play all the time? I have never seen a team play this bad before. What coach who's team is down by 7, with 3 minutes left in the game and has to go 80 yards to tie the game, just run run run. I do like watching high school football, even though my kids are out of school already, but i could not watch this greenfield team play again. Very boring offensive team.

I thought it was a well played game. 14-7 means hard hitting took place and the teams were disciplined, well coached. I can remember when greenfield was getting 40 to 50 points hung on them every week. They ran the spread at the time and did not score many points. It doesn't matter what offense you run. It comes down to execution. I respect a coach and kids who go out day in and day out and compete in the good spirit of the game.
