Whitnall Football Season Comes to an End

The Falcons were overwhelmed in the first half of a 63-26 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran in a first-round playoff game Friday.

The Whitnall football team's magical season — one that included a Woodland Conference title and the opening of Falcon Field — came to an abrupt end Friday.

The Falcons (5-4) were outscored by 53 points in the first half en route to a 63-26 loss to top-seeded and undefeated Wisconsin Lutheran (9-0) in a WIAA Division 3 first-round playoff game.

Adihia Bell rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns for Wisco. For the Falcons, the terrific tandem of senior quarterback Zach Sutton and senior receiver Sam Mentkowski was impressive in a losing effort.

Sutton threw for 387 yards on 36-of-64 passing with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Mentkowski caught a career-high 16 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown.
