Whitnall Unable to Hand Eisenhower First League Loss

The Falcons lost to the front-running Lions, 7-3, at home Wednesday.

The Whitnall baseball team nearly overcame a four-run deficit against the league's best team but missed opportunities led to a 7-3 loss at home to the New Berlin Eisenhower Lions on Wednesday.

Trailing, 4-0, in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Falcons scored three times on Luke Mentkowski's RBI double, Geoff Wisialowski's sacrifice fly and Danny Weymier's RBI single. But Eisenhower received three walks in a three-run fifth inning to pull away.

"Tonight was disappointing because we had numerous opportunities offensively, and then pitching-wise, you cannot walk seven guys against Eisenhower and expect to win," said Whitnall coach Brian Johnsen, whose team dipped to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the Woodland Conference.
