Greenfield Firefighters 'Filling the Boot' for the Muscular Dystrophy Association

Greenfield firefighters will collect money at the corner of South 76th Street and West Layton Avenue Sept. 4-6.

The Greenfield Fire Department and Greenfield Local 1963 will once again be hosting a Fill-the-Boot campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This year's event will be held on the corner of 76th Street and Layton Avenue Sept. 4-6. Firefighters will be on the streets from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, collecting money from motorists in their boots.

Donations can also be made in the parking lot of BMO Harris Bank, on the northwest corner of the intersection, where firefighters will be stationed as well.

Last year, Greenfield firefighters raised nearly $34,000, one of the highest-earning fire departments in the state. Over the years, Greenfield firefighters have raised more than $214,000 for the organization.

Motorists are encouraged to donate as they pass through the intersection, and to drive with caution.
